Connectivity and network

If your screen appears as "offline", it means Fyresign cannot reach the device. This guide walks you through the most common causes and how to fix them step by step.

Internet connection

Before troubleshooting, verify that your network is working - test with another device on the same network.

External Player
Player

WiFi

  1. Connect a keyboard to your external player.
  2. Open system settings (press “esc” on your keyboard)
  3. Enter your network name and password.
  4. Press “esc” to close the menu.

Ethernet

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the player.
  2. Connection should be established automatically.

Signage display (Samsung Tizen / LG WebOS / Android)

  1. Open settings on the display.
  2. Select network.
  3. Choose WiFi or Ethernet depending on your connection type.
  4. For WiFi: select your network and enter the password.
  5. For Ethernet: plug in the cable - the connection should establish automatically.

Power and physical connections

External player

  1. Check that the screen is turned on.
  2. Make sure the power cable is firmly connected to the screen, player and the wall outlet.
  3. Look for an indicator or status light on the device - it should be lit.
  4. If the device is off: turn it on an wait 2-3 minutes before checking the status in Fyresign again.

Can I use Fyresign without an internet connection?

It depends on which device you are using.

Signage displays

No. The Fyresig app requires an active internet connection to fetch and update content. Without internet, the screen will not display updatet content.

External players
Player

Fyresign offers an offline mode for external players. For offline mode to work, the playlist must have played through at least once while the device was connected to the internet.
